Getting Started
How to become an Investor in People is a step-by-step manual to achieving Recognition. Presented in a binder for easy reference, this manual explains the thinking behind the Standard, and walks you through the process - from the first steps, to action plan, to implementation and evaluation.

You can order a copy of the manual through www.tso.co.uk/bookshop.

There are further publications designed to help you start working with the Standard. The range contains products for line managers and self-assessment toolkits. All publications are available from www.tso.co.uk/bookshop.  Alternatively, please visit the products and publications section of our website for more information on how to order and purchase materials.

Large organisations wishing to move towards recognition on a subsidiary, departmental or divisional basis, may adopt a 'building block' approach towards recognition. While this is an acceptable way of working towards recognition, it should, wherever possible, be managed within an 'overarching recognition strategy'. This should ensure that:

  • The organisation is assessed in a cost-effective way
  • All appropriate parts of the Investors in People delivery network understand how the organisation intends to work with the Standard and are able to work in partnership with the whole organisation
  • Eventually all parts of the organisation will be covered by the Investors in People Standard.

To receive help in creating and managing such strategies, please contact your local Quality Centre.
