Culture and communication
“I do not know any organisation that gets communication right all of the time – you have to work at it. Getting it right is hard work but very worthwhile!”
Cyrus Todiwala MBE, Director, Cafe Spice Namaste

You need to create the right culture for your organisation. This can make a big difference in helping you achieve your vision and objectives. Many of the most successful companies achieve high performance cultures by having clear channels of communication.

It is beneficial to:

  • Create a positive culture and environment – ensure you meet regularly with your team and listen to the feedback they give you. This is the key to developing open and trusting relationships.
  • Include all staff in developing a shared vision and set of values for the organisation – encouraging staff collaboration promotes a sense of belonging and staff are more likely to believe in the organisation and what it does.
  • Involve people in creating the culture – allowing staff to have input in decision making will get their buy-in and encourage positive behaviours.
  • Create an environment which values equality and diversity – being transparent in your management practices will show your employees that all decisions are made fairly and consistently.
  • Have robust review processes that ensure communication is working and being regularly updated.
