Working with the TUC and unionlearn An excellent example of partnership work which leads to employee engagement, an important part of Investors in People, is our work with the TUC and unionlearn.
Having signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the TUC which set out shared vision and objectives, Investors in People regional Centres and regional unionlearn centres began working in partnership. This led to a greater understanding of the role of employees , union representatives and unionlearn representatives in Investors in People. unionlearn representatives recognised the opportunities that Investors in People brings organisations and employees. This resulted in a unionlearn booklet called Making the most of Investors in People – a guide for trade unions which underpins and shares this partnership way of working.
At the launch of the booklet, Liz Smith, director of unionlearn said, “sometimes it’s not obvious to unions what Investors in People can offer, but I think it is a powerful tool that unions, working imaginatively with employers can use as a framework for the development of the workforce.”
