Philip WilliamsonChairman of Investors in People UK
Philip Williamson
Philip Williamson was appointed Chairman of Investors in People UK in May 2006. He joined Nationwide in 1991 and was appointed to the Board in April 1996. He has carried out a wide range of different roles at Nationwide. Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive, Philip was Marketing and Commercial Director and latterly Retail Operations Director.
 
After graduating with a degree in Economics from Newcastle University, Philip joined Lloyds Bank as a graduate management trainee in August 1970. He carried out a wide variety of banking management roles, culminating in senior executive appointments. For two years after leaving Lloyds, he worked with property group UK Land PLC, before joining the Society in 1991 to head up the commercial lending area of the business.
 
Philip is currently Chairman of the Building Societies Association, is the President of the European Mortgage Federation and is Chairman of both The Corporate Forum for International Service and  the Swindon Initiative.

Simon JonesActing Chief Executive
Simon Jones

Formerly Director of Finance & Strategic Planning and Company Secretary for Investors in People UK, Simon Jones took over the helm from Ruth Spellman, IIP UK’s previous Chief Executive on the 1st December 2006.  As Director of Finance and Strategic Planning Simon not only led on business and resource management planning he also managed a number of key strategic partnerships as well as the cross-sector development of Human Capital Management metrics for the investment community.

As Acting Chief Executive, Simon’s aim is to work with IIPUK’s Chairman, its Board, its stakeholders and employees to ensure that IIPUK and its delivery partners are fit for purpose and help UK businesses and organisations improve their productivity through better people management, leadership, engagement and investment in skills.

Prior to IIPUK Simon worked for a number of organisations within Central Government, the National Health Service, English Heritage and a number of commercial companies working on resource management, reform, change management, strategy and operations.

Simon is a qualified accountant and is committed to continuing professional development for both himself and others.  He is also a member of the Institute of Directors, and an alumni of the University of Sheffield where he read Politics.

Graeme EtheridgeDirector of Operations
Graeme Etheridge
Graeme is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, and a former examiner having qualified in 1997. He is currently on secondment from the Office for Criminal Justice Reform and has previously worked for a number of organisations including local authorities, regeneration agencies, English Heritage, and the Cabinet Office. Graeme has previously led on operational delivery and management, business development, strategy, financial management and reform implementation.

Jane JonesDirector of Policy and Communications
Jane Jones
Joining IIPUK in June 2006, Jane provides the lead on Policy and Communications for IIPUK.
 
Her past experience includes working at the Cabinet Office in the area of public services reform. As head of policy & marketing for Charter Mark, the government’s national standard for customer service, she worked directly to the Chief Executive of the UK Passport Agency as he led an external review for Ministers of the Charter Mark scheme.
 
Jane was the UK representative on the European Network of Public Administrations during the UK presidency of the EU last year – a group which aims to improve public services across all European countries. She visited Hungary to advise on the setting up of a Citizen’s Charter and has worked with other countries as they introduced a customer focus approach.
 
As a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, Jane worked for 11 years at the National Audit Office undertaking value for money research and drafting reports for Parliament in areas such as higher education and health. As an experienced and qualified trainer, she ran a diverse range of courses, both internally and abroad on value for money techniques. Jane was also project manager for Investors in People, helping take the Office through all stages of the IIP journey to successful recognition and post-recognition.
